Last Day of School and Off to Camp
It was my daughter’s last day of school yesterday as she went off to camp today in Alberta (for 10 days!!!).
So yesterday I focused on getting some nice shots of her:

Don’t you just love those movable walkways at the airport?

Here she was laughing at her brother, who kept goofing around with her…I think he’s going to miss her. I know I will.

After a bit of a teary goodbye, I dragged Noah over to this spot as I knew the bokeh would be cool:

Airports are rather cool places to shoot in!

Here’s that walkway again!

Being a ‘bit’ of a goof! lol

So many cool backgrounds when you are shooting with a wide aperture!

I expect the next 10 days will go by quickly for her, and for me, but I sure do look forward to her return home!

Toronto Family Photography Session
This was a large family shoot! The four siblings are planning something special for their parent’s 50th in August.
I had a great time shooting the children on their own. First up was Helena, who helped me find the ‘light’ in the backyard. I love the background in this first shot:

Love this shot, love the stray hair coming across her face, she has fabulous hair!

Charlie was a bit of a tough cookie, but I love this serious shot of him:

Charlie’s older brother Ben, love the sparkle in his eyes!

Love this serious shot of Pearce. Like me he is more comfortable behind the camera then in front of it. (I can relate Pearce!)

Pearce’s older sister Madeleine, doesn’t she have the most amazing eyes? Love how the background colours match her eyes too.

She is gorgeous in black and white too!

Love this shot of Claire, another beautiful red head with curls!

Love the contrasting green in the background against the red curls of Claire’s hair:

Claire’s older sister Grace. Love the serious direct look she’s giving me in this shot:

Gotta love a twinkle in the eyes!

Love this moment of ‘just the boys’!

And here are all the parents!

We were fortunate to be able to work around the weather! (I sure hope that settles down as summer begins!)
Thanks to everyone for being such good sports and putting up with the long shoot that was necessary to capture everyone! ![]()

Saturday, Out and About, In the Park, Out to Dinner!
While Noah was off with a friend at an event, Rebecca and I ran some errands on our own.

Caught this shot as we waited for our lunch to arrive:

Noah had a great time at his event and came home with a wonderfully painted face! So once a friend of mine arrived we all headed over to the park:

Oh, yes, one of the things we purchased yesterday was a hair colouring product (a mousse that, apparently, will wash out after 8–10 hair washes…I guess we’ll see!)

Rebecca was thrilled to colour her hair!

Depending on the light her hair has a very different tone to it, here is it darker and much more sophisticated.

Caught some shots of Noah on the swing:

Some shots of Rebecca with lovely bokeh in the background:

This shot is very reminiscent of these series of shots, from my old blog.

This one makes me think of Oliver Twist (”Please sir, can I have some more…?)

Showing off our latest treasure:

Then we decided we were ready for dinner, so we walked up Yonge Street to Terroni, here Noah was busy drinking some water and asked his sister to just ‘wait’ a second…

I think he looks like a very cute little mouse nibbling his bread! lol

Uh, bet you can’t guess what he choose to have for dinner?? ![]()

Looking a bit concerned…no idea why!

A quiet moment:

Rebecca on the way home:

Noah on the way home (he’s lost quite a bit of his face make-up from eating his dinner):

It ended up being a very nice day, and the weather was perfect too!

Sunday, in the Park
We waited until about 4 pm to head to the park on Sunday, hoping it had cooled down just a bit which, thankfully, it had!
Noah, shot wide open to maximize the bokeh:

Rebecca, and more bokeh!

The kids found some left over water balloons from the Fun Fair on Saturday, here Noah is running from his sister, who’s trying to throw a balloon at him:

It was all fun and games until his big sister did something silly by emptying a whole water balloon on him, he was not happy
(and she immediately regretted it as then he didn’t want to play anymore!)

Then she proposed that he empty a balloon over top of his head, he took her up on that!

And he was happy again!

Before we headed home we met Tucker! What a cutie!

And then, luckily, we got home before the weather turned! I can’t say I enjoy the crazy weather systems that come along with the heat and humidity!

New School, Kitten Season & Digging in the Dirt
My daughter and I went to meet with the principal of her new school today, here’s a shot on the way:

I would have liked a catchlight in her eyes, but there are no windows in the hallway! But I love the out-of-focus background in the shot…so I uploaded it just for that!

A shot taken inside one of the classrooms:

On the way home we visited a local vet who had kittens in his window. Did you know there is such a thing as ‘kitten season’? (I found that out one year when I asked the vet why he didn’t always have kittens in his window…and he said it wasn’t the season for kittens!)
We liked this one the most:

This funny little guy (gal?) always had one eye closed!

After school Noah went digging in the sand pit that he and his friends have been building (tunnels, planting ‘trees’, etc.) for the last few weeks:

Sometimes it’s really hard to get him to look at me when I’m trying to take his picture…I think he’s sick of the camera! lol

A few from today…
…but none of my kids!
First off this absolutely adorable baby girl. I asked her mom if it was ok if I caught a few shots while she was on the swing.

Look at those amazing eyes! (I’m really hoping mom & dad will hire me for a photo shoot before they return to their home country!)

Someone was giving out washed and clean used stuff toys at the park, Harry took just a few!

Love the red of his hair against the green background:

To the Distillery District and the Beach
Went down to the Distillery District yesterday with a friend and my son, captured this first shot right at the beginning:

The next five shots were taken in a cool store that has old antique toy vechiles. I was playing with extremely shallow depth of field, which worked well with the low light levels in the store, and is fun to boot!

Then we stopped by Balzac’s Coffee for hot chocolate and tea:

Noah decided to drink his hot chocolate with a straw:

After our refreshments we headed down to the beach:

Looking for cool stones to add to his rock collection:

Caught this seagull at the edge of the water:

Noah running from the cold water:

And then we started to dig:

Which takes lots of concentration! lol

At the end he buried his feet in an attempt to dry them…not sure that worked out very well!

Hope everyone else had a great Sunday as well!
