My New Neighbourhood: Downtown East Toronto

Filed under: Uncategorized — Holly @ 3:36 pm

I’m loving my new neighborhood! I lived for many years in the Summerhill, and then the Avenue Road/Dupont area of the city, but I have now moved to Downtown East, Jarvis and Wellesley area.

It’s a more urban location with wonderful older houses and great architecture:

Mixed with some newer houses, and nice wide streets:

I’m a five minute walk from the Maple Leaf Gardens Loblaws:

Have been switching email/web servers which has been playing havoc with my updating my blog and dealing with email. It’s still chugging away on some data, but at least I can update my blog again. 🙂

I captured some photos of the cats this weekend, while photographing the yummy baking (see weekend posts) that my sister was doing.

Here’s Finnegan, looking adorable:

Candied Ginger Sables & White Chocolate Snowflakes: Holiday Baking, Toronto Food Photography

The condo smelled yummy again this afternoon!

White Chocolate Snowflakes

Monica was continuing the holiday baking.

First up were Candied Ginger Sables, you can find the recipe here. Even though ours didn’t quite turn out the same as on the food52.com site, they are still delicious. Next up were White Chocolate Snowflakes, you can find the recipe here. We substituted crushed candy canes for the peanuts. We’re not sold on those…don’t think they’ll be a repeat for next year.

My favourite of the weekend was definitely the Double Chocolate Peppermint Crunch Cookies from yesterday.
