Holiday Baking 2009

The kids and I managed to fit in some holiday baking this year, which is great because I love giving that personalized gift of holiday baking!

(See “My Camera Equipment” in footer section for links/more information on camera equipment used.)

One day we made gingerbread cookies (shot with the Canon 24–70 mm f2.8L lens), and you can find the recipe on the SavvyMom EatSavvy Blog, where I participated in the Great Savvy Bake-Off:

On another day we made some yummy sugar cookies (shot with the Canon 85 f1.2L lens):

The kids had fun decorating these ones (shot with the Canon 24–70 mm f2.8L lens):

Throughout all the baking activity, Alice just ‘chillaxed‘ (as my daughter Rebecca would say), which was a very good thing! Except when she disappeared from hanging out with us on the evening of the gingerbread cookie baking, Noah found her snacking on a gingerbread cookie in the dining room! They were set out to let the icing completely dry…have to get used to having a cat that can get into food in the house! lol (Shot with the Canon 85 f1.2L lens):

November 2009 EatSavvy: Commercial Food Photography

This month’s EatSavvy shoot was very yummy, with wonderful comfort recipes for these colder days and nights.

(Equipment Used: All images were shot with the Canon 24–70 mm f2.8L lens.)

This month’s Family Meal, you can’t beat Spaghetti and Meatballs for a satisfying meal:

Can’t go wrong with soup at this time of year either! Delicious Meatball Minestrone Soup:

Any toddler would love their very own Mexican Meatloaf Muffins (these were very yummy!):

For a quick hardy meal, made from extras/leftovers of the other meals, give the Quickie Meatball Subs a try:

Now that the composing of this blog post has made me so hungry, it’s time for a lunch break…just wish I had one of these meals awaiting me in the kitchen!

Melanie & Jason: Maternity Photography, Toronto, Ontario

Melanie’s sister, Michele, contacted me via email regarding a maternity/newborn gift certificate for her sister. She told that her sister was expecting twin girls, I replied that I was also a twin, she then responded that she and Melanie are also twins! Too funny!

In late October I got together with Melanie and her husband, Jason, for the maternity shoot.

(Equipment Used: All photos were shot with my beloved Canon 85 f1.2L lens, unless otherwise noted.)

We started in the house, and captured this photo in the babies room (shot with the Canon 24–70 mm f2.8L lens):

We then moved outside for some shots:

Melanie & Jason live on the Danforth, so we walked over to a lookout which shows the downtown in the background (that’s the CN Tower at the edge of the photo):

We then went back to the house for a few more photos:

I pulled out my Lensbaby lens for a few shots, and this is one of my favourites:

Then we went out to the Danforth to finish off the shoot. I love capturing couples in their local spots, in their ‘hood, to celebrate the couple, their connection and their love. The next three are from a series I shot at their local coffee shop, as they sat at the window. I simply adore this series:

We wandered further along the Danforth, and I captured Melanie in this cool chair on the sidewalk:

At another stop along the Danforth:

Last photos of the shoot were in front of a local flower shop, love everything about this one, Melanie’s laughter and even the pigeon crossing in front of them, lol:

Thank you Melanie and Jason, and I’m looking forward to meeting your daughters soon!

The D Family: Family Photography, Toronto, Ontario

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Robin, Pete and their children, Jack and William.

We ended up fighting the weather a bit, but it ended up working out, the sun even made an appearance. We started the shoot in their backyard, where I captured William at play:

Caught this shot of Jack when we all took cover from the light rain that had started:

Thankfully it cleared up and we moved to the kids’ school yard, for more fun and photos. Love this shot of mom and her boys:

Dad joined in:

Loving this brotherly shot, so cute:

Made use of the sun that appeared for a backlit family photo:

Here’s one of just mom and dad that I captured:

The K Family: Family Photography, Toronto, Ontario

Oh, it was SO hard to limit my sneak peek for this adorable family! They were the winning bidders for a gift certificate that I donated to the POGO Gala this year.

We met up at a park close to where they live, which I hadn’t been back to since my last shoot there almost two years ago. It’s a great location!

(Equipment Used: Shot entirely with the Canon 85 f1.2L lens and the Canon 24–70 mm f2.8L lens.)

Emma was such a sweetie! As soon as she saw me she reached out and I ended up carrying her over to the playground. Look how adorable she is!

Her brother Nathan was such a cutie! He looked like a model, and he kept himself busy running around most of the time, 🙂

Love this shot, almost everyone is looking at me! 😉

“AWWWW!” Which is what my daughter said when she saw this shot, and I concur! So sweet!

Nathan and his Dad share a moment in the playground:

Absolutely ADORE this series of backlit shots! Emma and her mom, so adorable!! (Shot wide open at f1.2 with the Canon 85 f1.2L lens.)

You would recognize these steps if you looked at the link above to the other family shoot, great spot for a family photo!

Love these shots of Dad playing with his daughter, so fun!

Loved Emma’s outfit, strong bold colours, matching hair ribbon, perfect for the shoot:

LOVE this one! Caught it almost at the end of the shoot:

Oh, this sweet moment between mother and son takes me back to when my children were that age, so precious!

Thank you Sally and Yong! It was my pleasure to meet and photograph you and your children!
