Costa Rica iPhoneography

Filed under: Animals,iPhone,Life,Out & About,Textured,The Natural World — Tags: , — Holly @ 1:57 pm

Here are some iPhoneography shots (and a few older shots at the end) from my recent trip to Costa Rica. You can see my Canon photography shots, from this trip, in this post (or just scroll down further on the page). All of the following were shot and processed on the iPhone 4.

This one is a combination of two previously processed images, playing with a few new apps:

When I departed Toronto it was a snowy cold day, the plane had to be de-iced:

Costa Rica: Photography Tour

I recently traveled to Costa Rica to attend a photography tour with some friends. The tour was run by Natural Exposures, and it was wonderful! Relaxing and fun, lots of photo opportunities. I will post some iPhone photography from the trip once I have a chance to process some more of the images, in the meantime the following were all taken with my Canon 1DMkIV.

Beautiful beach sunset:

The silly dogs were from a lunch stop on a travel day, the rest were all taken at the Tiskita Lodge:

Ah, the beach, loved it!

Friendly Neighbourhood Cats: Toronto Cat Photography

I was out and about last night, enjoying the beautiful spring weather in Toronto, when I met some very friendly neighbourhood cats.

(Equipment Used: All images were shot with the Canon EOS-1D MarkIV and the Canon 100 mm f2.8 macro lens, except where noted.)

Funnily enough there was a question about how to photograph black cats in the comments to my Q & A on moderncat.net yesterday, and then I met this beautiful cat (LOVE the eyes!):

He (she?) was difficult to photograph because he was so friendly! As soon as I’d get down on the ground to take the photograph, he was right there, nuzzling me, purring, even kneading the ground, so cute!

Then I went one street over and met these two beautiful cats (this one was shot with the Canon 85 f1.2L lens):

I think I’ll have to go back and visit again! 🙂

Alice the Cat Update: Toronto Cat Photography

I have been taking photos of Alice over the last few weeks, so now it’s time to play “blog image catch-up” with them! Hope you enjoy! 🙂

Alice loves hanging out on the window ledge in the living room, watching the world go by: (Equipment Used: Shot with the Canon EOS-1D MarkIV and the Canon 24–70 mm f2.8L lens.)

A couple of more window shots, and then a few where she was just hanging out on my bed. (All shot with the Canon EOS-1D MarkIV. Top two with the Canon 24–70 mm f2.8L lens, bottom left with the Canon 100 mm f2.8 macro lens and the bottom right with the Canon 85 f1.2L lens.)

Love this shot of her, with her beautiful tail curled around her as she snoozes on the shelf in my home office. (Shot with the Canon EOS-1D MarkIV, Canon 24–70 mm f2.8L lens and the Canon 580EX II Speedlite.)

With the beautiful weather having arrived in Toronto, I decided it was time to introduce Alice to our deck. Right now she is still a bit nervous/skittish of being on the deck, but we have a harness/leash for her when she starts to get more adventurous! (Shot with the Canon EOS-1D MarkIV, and first/last images with the Canon 85 f1.2L lens, middle two with the Canon 24–70 mm f2.8L lens.)

The following four images were shot with the Canon EOS-1D MarkIV, and the Lensbaby Composer with the Lensbaby Close-Up (Macro) Kit (+4) installed:

The following four images were shot with the Canon EOS-1D MarkIV, and the Lensbaby Composer (no macro attachment). Interesting to me how much more pronounced the lensbaby affect is on these images vs. the images above with the macro attachment:

Will have a link to share, related to my pet photography, in the next day or two. Will post some more recent shots of Alice then too! 🙂
