Finnegan: Toronto Pet Photography

Allow me to introduce you to Alice’s half brother, Finnegan! Alice and Finn have the same mother, but different fathers. When my sister, Monica, kitten-sat for us when we traveled to Disney World (Dec. ’09), she completely fell in love with Alice and put in an order for her very own Siberlynx kitten, and here he is!

Finn

We started off in Monica’s bedroom, where Finn played on her bed:

Then we moved out into the kitchen and living room. Looks like Finn has found his reflection! In the last shot you can see how small Finn is, he’s a tiny little guy, only weighing ~15oz at his first vet appointment (by comparison Alice weighed ~23oz at her first weigh-in). He meow’s quite a bit, especially if he wants to be picked up, so I caught a shot mid-meow:

Then we settled Finn down on the sofa (arm of the sofa here), as we knew he’d be ready for a nap soon:

And it didn’t take long at all…

The snoozing photos remind me very much of Alice snoozing, as since here (scroll down), and look how adorable he is sleeping on his back! Too cute:

The last shot I took of him, he peeped his eyes open, and then went right back to sleep:

Kris & Tim: Maternity/Couple Photography, Toronto

Kris and Tim found me through their friends Dann & Bob, and I’m glad they did as we had a super fun shoot this past weekend!

They live out of town, so we had a hotel shoot (which I have done before).

They also brought along their first baby, Phoebe for the shoot:

We started out in the hotel room:

Then we moved outside to the beautiful snowy day:

Snow Day: Toronto Family Photographer

Yea! Snow day in Toronto! There hasn’t been a snow day in Toronto since 1999, Rebecca wasn’t even in school then! So my kids made the most of it, inviting friends over for a snowball fight! It was the girls against the boys, here’s how it played out:

Rebecca came forward to negotiate the terms on the snowball fight, they decided that the winner would be whomever took the other’s fort. Then the girls approached, and the fight began!

The girls quickly retreated to their corner, and just as quickly retreated from their corner, the boys won!

Back to the house we went for hot chocolate, rice krispies squares and xbox kinect. And that was the end of their snow day, hope they enjoyed it as it could be years before they have another one!

Alice the Cat on Bed Rest: Toronto Pet Photography

Alice had an unfortunate accident last week, her left front leg got caught in a closing door. Off to the vet we went, and would have had x-rays but their machine had crashed, so we decided to wait it out (the vet was pretty sure that she didn’t have a break in the larger leg bone). Fortunately they prescribed some medication to help Alice with the pain that also has the wonderful side-effect of making her sleepy! She sleeps quite a bit, normally, but this really helped in keeping her quieter then I think she would have been otherwise.

So, since I hadn’t posted a blog posting of Alice in a while, I thought this was a good time for an update!

Settling down on the bed for a snooze:

But it’s always a good idea to start with a in depth grooming session first:

Even when she was up and about she was pretty good at keeping herself quiet, except that she would jump up to high places, and then jump down, which was not good for her injured leg! If I managed to catch her, I would lift her down, but cats are sneaky and quiet!

Thankfully she does seem to be on the mend. I gave her her last dose of meds today, so tomorrow should really tell the tale, but from the little I’ve seen of her walking around today I think she has really improved and is on the mend!

I don’t tend to be very political on my photography blog, but the recent CRTC decision to allow Usage Based Billing (UBB) on internet bandwidth has me completely outraged for all Canadians. This decision is anti-competive, stifles innovation and creativity for future endevours in the internet marketplace. This will effect all Canadians, will impact our children’s education and job prospects in the future. We, as Canadians, must stand up and be counted, that we oppose this recent CRTC decision. Here’s what you can do to help:

Sign the Petition at openmedia.ca/meter (I’m sure it will hit 250K today!)

Visit www.antiubb.com/what-can-i-do/

Follow openmedia on FaceBook, come out to a local protest against UBB (one is happening this Friday in Toronto!)

Both the NDP and the Liberals have spoken up against this decision, but we can not let up on the campaign until the decision has been formally reversed! At the very least, please sign the petition and forward it to everyone you know in Canada.

Thank you!!!!
