The G Family: Family Photography, Toronto, Ontario

Had a fabulously fun session with Deborah and her son, Christopher, for my last family session of 2009.

(See “My Camera Equipment” in footer section for links/more information on camera equipment used.)

We started out inside with a family photo including Butterscotch the cat (shot with the Canon 24–70 mm f2.8L lens):

Christopher is learning guitar, and mom wanted a shot of him playing (shot with the Canon 85 f1.2L lens):

Love these two, shot in the back alley behind the house, such great ‘boy’ shots! (Shot with the Canon 85 f1.2L lens):

Loving these moments between mom and son (both shot with the Canon 85 f1.2L lens):

Love these shots of Butterscotch being taken for her daily walk in the back alley, so cute! (Shot with the Canon 85 f1.2L lens):

I adore this shot of the whole family, going for a walk (shot with the Canon 85 f1.2L lens):

Christopher was trying to be tricky, and hide from me for this shot, and it ended up being a fabulous relaxed portrait of him (shot with the Canon 85 f1.2L lens):

Thank you, Deborah and Christopher, for being such fun for my last family shoot of the year!

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Robin, Pete and their children, Jack and William.

We ended up fighting the weather a bit, but it ended up working out, the sun even made an appearance. We started the shoot in their backyard, where I captured William at play:

Caught this shot of Jack when we all took cover from the light rain that had started:

Thankfully it cleared up and we moved to the kids’ school yard, for more fun and photos. Love this shot of mom and her boys:

Dad joined in:

Loving this brotherly shot, so cute:

Made use of the sun that appeared for a backlit family photo:

Here’s one of just mom and dad that I captured:

Thank you Robin, Pete, Jack and William for the fun afternoon!

The K Family: Family Photography, Toronto, Ontario

Oh, it was SO hard to limit my sneak peek for this adorable family! They were the winning bidders for a gift certificate that I donated to the POGO Gala this year.

We met up at a park close to where they live, which I hadn’t been back to since my last shoot there almost two years ago. It’s a great location!

(Equipment Used: Shot entirely with the Canon 85 f1.2L lens and the Canon 24–70 mm f2.8L lens.)

Emma was such a sweetie! As soon as she saw me she reached out and I ended up carrying her over to the playground. Look how adorable she is!
_W5I1826.jpg

Her brother Nathan was such a cutie! He looked like a model, and he kept himself busy running around most of the time, πŸ™‚

Love this shot, almost everyone is looking at me! πŸ˜‰

“AWWWW!” Which is what my daughter said when she saw this shot, and I concur! So sweet!

Nathan and his Dad share a moment in the playground:

Absolutely ADORE this series of backlit shots! Emma and her mom, so adorable!! (Shot wide open at f1.2 with the Canon 85 f1.2L lens.)

You would recognize these steps if you looked at the link above to the other family shoot, great spot for a family photo!

Love these shots of Dad playing with his daughter, so fun!

Loved Emma’s outfit, strong bold colours, matching hair ribbon, perfect for the shoot:

LOVE this one! Caught it almost at the end of the shoot:

Oh, this sweet moment between mother and son takes me back to when my children were that age, so precious!

Thank you Sally and Yong! It was my pleasure to meet and photograph you and your children!

Jeanine was the winner of the Project Love photo shoot (see this blog post), and we had a wonderful time in a local park last Friday with her adorable daughter, Brigitte.

(See “My Camera Equipment” in footer section for links/more information on camera equipment used.)

We started off with a swing, can you tell she loves swinging? πŸ˜‰
Beautiful_Toddler_on_swing.jpg

Loving the dreamy bokeh that the Canon 85 f1.2L lens produces, really is my favourite lens:
Mom_&_daughter_in_park.jpg

Loving the look of concentration on Brigitte’s face, and her beautiful eyes! (Shot with the Canon 24–70 mm f2.8L lens, which is much better at close-up work then the 85!)
Black_&_white_of_baby.jpg

Every mother experiences this, babies love their mommy’s necklaces!
Mom_&_Daughter_on_slide.jpg

Absolutely ADORE this shot! Brigitte looks too cute, and mom smiling in the background, can you say perfect?
Fun_shot_of_mom_&_daughter.jpg

We actually did the shoot at my local park, so guess who came by to say ‘hello’ during his recess break? My son Noah’s school is attached to the park where we did the shoot:

Love this moment too!

It was a beautiful day for the shoot, sunny and warm with no rain, perfect:

At the very end I caught some wonderful backlit shots:

Thank you for spending Friday morning with me Jeanine and Brigitte!

Summer 2009 Recent Shots/Out & About: Toronto Family Photographer

Time for a big catch-up on some recent shots from this summer…which I can’t believe is almost over!

Rebecca did some summer camp programs at the Sewing Studio on Avenue Road. For one of the camps all the girls had their hair and make-up done, so we took a few photos in the driveway next to our house (shot with the Canon 85 f1.2L lens):

Some recent, decent (except for the air bubbles!), lattΓ© art:
LatteCollage.jpg

Got together with my photog friends at Rebecca Woods’ new studio/office. We were playing around with some off-camera flash, but these were taken in existing light. The sunset outside her studio window was too beautiful to not photograph…kind of wished we’d been out and about in the beautiful evening air shooting that night!
RebeccaWoodStudioCollage.jpg

(Equipment Used: All of the following were taken with the Canon 50 f1.4 lens and Canon 5D. I thought I’d give it a try as it’s a much lighter option for carrying for extended periods over the Canon EOS-1D MarkIII and Canon 85 f1.2L lens combo, but the result isn’t nearly as good…but decent for the reduced weight of equipment. All of the following images were shot wide open at f1.4.)

Kids and I set off to do some back to school shopping, but first Noah had to buy a new frog:
NoahFrogCollage.jpg

Can’t beat the bokeh created shooting wide open!
20090816-_MG_9319.jpg

Noah was happy as I treated him to a new Nintendo DS game, which kept him busy while his sister & I shopped:
20090816-_MG_9315.jpg

Again, loving the bokeh:
20090816-_MG_9324.jpg

Rebecca at a shoe shop, shopping for back-to-school shoes (wish I could have found something for Noah…no selection to speak of in the Yonge/Bloor area):
20090816-_MG_9328.jpg

Afterward we had an ice cream break at Summer’s Ice Cream Shop in Yorkville. Especially nice as there was something Noah could have (he usually misses out on ice cream due to his peanut/nut allergy). We puzzled over the bizarrely worded sign in a dry cleaners window next to the ice cream shop:
RNIceCreamCollage.jpg

Last week Rebecca and I went out for lunch and to run some errands. Her newly created sock monkey (made at one of her Sewing Studio camps), Fredrick, accompanied us. I think he’s just the cutest creation!:
SockMonkeyCollage.jpg

On our journey through the Annex we came across some damage from that crazy storm we had last Thursday night:

After running some errands we stopped for lunch at Big Sushi on Bloor:

Loving their sweet potato sushi, just wish they offered a brown rice version:

Bokeh, baby, bokeh!
20090821-_MG_9425.jpg

Loving the backlight of this shot, and the bokeh!

Rebecca is loving her new sunglasses:

Yeah! All caught up!
